No more embryos--my babies are now feti. Or perhaps that happens tomorrow--I've found conflicting information! But then again, since there's conflicting information on when the first trimester ends, I'm not overly surprised.
I have so many posts half-written in my head. But the problem is, like...they're forever long and really boring.
Take, for example, the hot-topic (that has now cooled off, since I took so long) of banning children from some private restaurants, movie theaters, etc. In order for me to fully say what I wanted to say, I was talking about ET (the first movie I saw in theaters, and HOLY FUCKING SHIT do not do that to your child!!) and then really odd Mormon movies that we'd watch at home, and how we didn't have television, just a VCR, and how I used to waitress, and how...
Ok, so. Let's write about the "you must want a boy and a girl" thing. And hell, of course I want to parent both sexes. But I'm also not a firm believer in gender roles (hippy, dirty, dirty hippy) so whatever. But my husband is/was very traditional which caused a bunch of fights when we first moved in and I still do not particularly enjoy certain aspects of his father's behavior. And American football is totally fucking idiotic, and it's not because I'm a girl, it's because they just stand around all the damn time. Basketball and soccer are a lot like dance, and I was an awesome dancer (seriously) but my boobs were too big (also seriously) for me to ever make it a career, but I discovered belly dancing in college and did I mention that my husband once said, "don't take this the wrong way, but if we have all girls, I'll probably be a bit bored"? Which of course, since he only wants the twins, makes me want 2 girls because then he'll be bored and let us try again! (HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.)
See? Even now you're bored!!
I'm not sure if my scatter-mindedness is an effort to not think of loss, to not fear my upcoming nuchal scan, or maybe an electrolyte imbalance.
Which, by the way, how safe is MSG during pregnancy? Because, when I was in the Peace Corps, one of my favorite quick-protein fixes during the rainy season was fake egg-drop soup. Essentially, stir an egg into a boiling pot of MSG-flavored water. I had that yesterday (and why yes, it's still hot outside, piss off), and it was really fucking good and I didn't puke it up! So veggie broth has been added to our list (and please don't tell me how you make your own, I know it can be done, I am far too lazy to even attempt that right now), but low sodium style just isn't very good. I do have low blood pressure, but then again, now that I've got 2 feti inside of me, who knows what's going on there.
Yeah. Step away from the keyboard and no one gets hurt.

Here's my recipe for homemade veggie broth-you take a cup of carrots....JK!!!! :) Was there a moment where you were rolling your eyes saying "Um I thought I said spare me the homemade crap." :) Anyways...so excited you are at 11 weeks! Im afraid of my husband being bored if we got two girls. He's a huge sports fan. And not that the girls cant play sports or love sports etc etc. I just think he needs a boy amongst our lil family, as I need my girl. Dont get me wrong, will be completely over the top happy with whatever we get...but its something that crosses my mind. Your embies have graduated to Feti! YAY. And I've never heard that term before btw :)
Congrats on the feti! As far as gender, I just wanted to throw in there that DH REALLY, REALLY WANTED BOYS!! Like so much so that it kinda scared me, and when our older child was born, 12 weeks premature, and they announced that it was a girl, I immediately turned to him and said "Are you okay with that?" LIKE there was anything we could do about it. And like, with a very premature baby, we didn't have bigger things to worry about. Anyhow, fast-forward to the birth of our second daughter, followed by instructions from the OB to cease and desist with the baby-making, and then a hysterectomy. His chances of a boy are gone. Totally gone. And he could not care less. We let our girls do whatever they want (one is a girly girl, the other more sporty) and he is never bored. Trust me, he will not be bored no matter what. He will be thrilled. And two of the same is so easy.
Some of the stuff I like to eat has MSG too, so I'd looked it up a while ago. Only link to infertility that was listed was that it might affect sperm production. Does not seem too problematic.
Congrats on the feti...glad things are going well!!
Please come hang out with me. We would be best friends, I promise.
Congratulations on your feti!
Everyone seems to think that we would of course have a preference for girls, what with being two ladies. This is infuriating to me: not being married to a man in no way means that I dislike men, and it certainly doesn't make me love parenting sons any less. I think one ought to be roughly equally enthusiastic about both sons and daughters to undertake reproductive methods that produce a 50/50ish coinflip every time.
I think having twins basically means you will not be using the adjective "bored" to describe yourselves as parents for a long, long time. But, I hope your husband gets at least one child that enjoys watching American football with him, regardless of sex. :)
I have been enjoying MSG during pregnancy with aplomb. Mmm, umami! It's glutamate, and amino acids are important building blocks for life! As long as your sodium consumption is not making you uncomfortable, I really wouldn't worry about it. (We do sometimes make our own veggie broth but we ALWAYS add in MSG to make it more delicious.)
Well, there are over a billion people in China and they practically mainline MSG, so I don't think there is a problem with it.
I don't get why people think that twins should be boy girl. Twins are a ton of work, no matter what the sexes are, you and your husband are going to be too busy to be bored. Having two of the same sex is easier, IMHO. For one, my boys can share the same room. When kids are babies they all share, but after so many years pass the gender thing becomes an issue. Also, fraternal twins are not as close as identical twins in any case, but those of different genders grow apart more than their same sex counterparts. I was thrilled when mine turned out to be the same gender.
Congrats on making it to feti'. Yeah twins!! I am pregnant with twin boys. I was shocked when we found out two boys (we have a daughter already). It didn't matter one way or another for me obviously but OMG, TWO BOYS!!! What to do? Your hubbie will be overjoyed with whatever you get or he can just LEARN TO LIKE IT...
In regards to the MSG, I ate Ramen like they were going out of style for several weeks. I think you are fine except maybe blood pressure issues which I had to be careful of.
