No news is...well, just no news

I'll write more later, but essentially my appointment was one big zero.

Wanna know what they measured? My weight and blood pressure.

Wanna know what they tested? My urine. For hCG. That's right, they had me POAS. Well, in a cup and they dipped the stick. But they didn't even test for white blood cells or anything fancy.

Then they charged my insurance probably something like $800 and sent me away.

Good news is, I get an ultrasound next week. Bad news is, "the machine has really bad resolution, so we'll see what we can see". Gee thanks.

I miss my RE's office. :(

Ugh, that's frustrating!

Darn:( That's really unfair. Especially given the fact that they couldn't get such a good fix on Baby A at your last u/s I thought for sure they would give you another one today. Also, I can't believe - can. not. believe. - that they made you pee in a cup for hcg.

Um, did they not get the memo?

Ohhhh, it was your INTAKE appointment! Our clinic does this, too, except that the appointment consists chiefly of being told about nutrition and things not to do in pregnancy by a nurse practitioner. Let me tell you this appointment gets more fun when you repeat it, especially given that most of the advice is pretty common sense in the first place.

Our OB's office ultrasound is also quite low resolution... but it should be good enough to make out a size estimate, and also see a heartbeat (though probably no rate). I wouldn't know how low res though because during the first visit with an OB, she couldn't get the screen to work so only the Wife and the Kid could looking over the OB's shoulder. Also, we had to ultrasound in the dark to be able to see the screen, and also, my wife had to hold the wand probe in place while the OB went to turn off the lights. It was pretty special.

So, basically, I'm saying OB visits are like this for everyone, and it's a rude shock from the RE world for sure. Welcome to "normal pregnancy"!

It certainly is routine for a singleton pregnancy, but not for multiples, especially after being referred from an RE's office. You need a better OB. You should at least have a sit down with a doctor, and an US. You have a right to be able to shop around, a twin pregnancy is a high risk pregnancy.

Sometimes you may have to push a little with insurance companies if you have to be seen in network, but you need an office that knows what they are doing. Healthy, full term twin pregnancies don't happen by accident. You need a good doctor, and sometimes more than one, in your corner, and a good hospital.

Ugh, that's like heading out for a steak dinner. Finding out the restaurant had an ecoli breakout and then having to hit the fast food drive thru :) Bummer. Is it weird Im already thinking about how big of a change it will be to go from RE to OB? :( But I hope the crappy u/s machine can give you SOMETHING good and reassuring next week :)

This is sheer torture.

I'm with chickenpig. These are twins and you are concerned aboutone of them. You should have an OB that cares as well. Ick. That left a bad taste in my mouth. How are they going ot have raggedy equipment??!?
