34w5d: Betamethasone

To be brief:

Babies are fine. My blood pressure was 140/95 with +1 protein. I was also having my usual contractions every 5ish minutes. Fingertip dilated (and then swabbed for GSB and another for possible infection to explain ctxns), sent to L&D for serial BPs, 5 hours of monitoring, and a zillion blood tests.

BP went down to 133/78 on average. Got the shot in the ass despite being technically past the cut-off, as there's new data suggesting that, for babies who don't make it to full-term, it still makes a difference. And it can't hurt.

So I'm back on strict bedrest, doing a 24-hour catch, and expecting my babies sooner rather than later. (My OB guesses within a week, but you never do know.)

The irony is, I've been teasing my husband since like July about how if his team makes the Super Bowl, I will deliver during it, as the ultimate love test.

He's been a Pats fan for over 30 years now.

And I was kidding.

Oh. goodness! Glad everyone is fine and I'm hoping you can keep your lads frathouse-bound just a bit longer, even though you are now well past the scary early stage of prematurity and within a fortnight of "full term".

I certainly hope that the boys will stay in a little while longer. I delivered my twins at 34w6d though (one was footling breech and sticking her foot out of my cervix). Both girls did have to go to the NICU, but they were both home within 2 weeks and so far seem to have no lasting affect. You have done the really hard work getting them here. Every day just makes it even better.

Congratulations!! Our boys were 35 weekers exactly and roomed in and came home with us without any problems at all. And our girls were superbowl babies. :D Their birthday is on the superbowl once again this year! Kinda fun to have a built in party already planned!

Whenever you deliver from here on out I hope it's uneventful and beautiful! You've had a hard road to get here but it's almost over!!

Well....it is a very long game. If you go in for a C section, your hubby will still have plenty of time to see the game ;) They always schedule C's in the early morning, too. I have a feeling with your protein and blood pressure they aren't going to recommend a vaginal delivery?

My son was born at 34 weeks and while I guess I don't know recent data (he's 11 now) I think the Betamethasone I received made a huge difference. I had it 5 days before he was born, then the morning my water broke and 12 hours later - which was a couple hours before his birth... Will pray for you and your little guys!

You can name the boys Brady and Rob or Tom! My husband semi jokingly asked if Brady would work for our daughter's middle name. Ok he was serious!

Wishing you all the best for bringing in your boys into this world!
